Change Lives – Become a Vision Literacy Volunteer!
Learn a new skill in the new year while helping others to change their lives – become a literacy volunteer! Vision Literacy, a nationally accredited literacy organization, trains volunteers to tutor adults in basic English language literacy. No prior experience is needed – just a desire to help others in your community. Training, materials, and professional support are provided. Volunteers are also needed to help with our social media campaigns, recordkeeping, special events, computer classes, and our fundraising project with the U.S. Open. If you have a special interest or skill to share, please let us know! All prospective volunteers are asked to attend a two-hour orientation session to learn more about volunteering in the program’s adult literacy and ESL instructional services. The session will provide information about Vision Literacy, share profiles of the adult learners we serve, explain the range of volunteer opportunities available, and show you how to access the Vision Literacy online pre-service training for volunteer tutors. The next orientation session will be held in the Sobrato Center for NonProfits, 600 Valley Way, Room 2, Milpitas, CA from 10am to 12pm on Saturday, January 28. To reserve an orientation packet, please contact Vision Literacy at 408.676.7323 or at info@visionliteracy.org. |
