Health Literacy Program
Vision Literacy's Health Literacy Program has expanded to include Community Learning Centers and health resource libraries in both north and south Santa Clara County.
Community Learning Center (CLC), North County
Hours: Monday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The North CLC is a collaborative partnership among Vision Literacy, PlaneTree Health Library, and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. The center was established to provide access to free health information and tutoring services to people with limited reading skills. In addition to these basic services, PlaneTree libraries also offer resources on a wide array of health issues to the general public.The CLC is a one-stop center for health information and literacy services in a comfortable setting. Services include a health library with video, audio and print materials, including items for new readers. These materials are available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese. Training opportunities range from individualized training on Internet health searches to one-on-one literacy counseling and tutoring. Small group classes focus on a variety of topics for new adult readers.
Community Learning Center (CLC), South County
Hours: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday 12 noon to 6 pm; Closed Fridays.
An expanded partnership between Vision Literacy and PlaneTree Health Library, the South County CLC is the first program of its kind in Gilroy. The CLC shares space with Vision Literacy's South County office, providing materials in both English and Spanish to people who seek literacy services or need health information.
